Who says you can’t treat yourself while also working towards your goals? Cake is one of those sweet treats that is hard to avoid while trying to eat healthier. That is why I created this delicious and healthy chocolate protein mug cake recipe. I am a firm believer in having things in moderation to avoid an inevitable set back. Unfortunately, a normal piece of cake is a hard thing for me to have in moderation. Because of that, I have experimented and made an easy and much healthier single-serving protein cake recipe. This cake can be made quickly in the microwave and also cooked in the oven.

What makes this chocolate protein mug cake healthier?

The healthy recipe replaces all the traditional sugars and flours used to make a cake. It uses higher quality ingredients and uses protein powder as its base. While it is not necessarily a low-calorie food, this chocolate protein mug cake is high in protein and much easier to make part of a healthy diet. This can be used as a treat or post-workout snack. Either way, it will curb any person with a sweet tooth who has goals but also wants to enjoy the sweeter things in life while keeping it healthier.

Delicious Chocolate Protein Mug Cake Recipe

Easy to make healthy protein cake that fits in a mug

  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp almond flour
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp dark chocolate chips (optional)

Microwave

  1. Place all the ingredients into a mug or mason jar and stir thoroughly

  2. Cook on high for 50 seconds

  3. The cake will expand so after step 2 let it sit for 30 seconds in the microwave

  4. Cook for another 25 seconds on high or until fluffy

  5. Let it cool down for 2-3 minutes

  6. ENJOY your quick and delicious microwaved chocolate protein mug cake

Oven

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

  2. Grease a mug or mason jar

  3. Stir together ingredients thoroughly in a separate dish

  4. Add stirred ingredients to greased mug or mason jar

  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes until fluffy

  6. Let it cool down for 2-3 minutes

  7. ENJOY your delicious oven made chocolate protein mug cake!

  • Pair with a glass of milk or frozen yogurt
  • Feel free to add unflavored creatine or collagen
